Important: DebatelyAI is a debate and discussion platform for medical professionals. It is not a medical device and does not provide clinical diagnoses or treatment recommendations.

1. Who We Are

DebatelyAI ("we", "our", "us") is a platform that allows medical professionals to engage in structured debates, explore clinical topics with AI assistance, and publish discussion threads publicly. The service is operated by DebatelyAI and is accessible at debatelyai.com.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of data:

Account data: name, email address, professional role, organization name
Usage data: debate threads, chat messages, comments you create on the platform
Technical data: IP address, browser type, access timestamps (server logs)
Free trial applications: clinic name, contact name, email, phone, city, number of doctors

We do not collect patient data. Users are responsible for not including identifiable patient information in their discussions.

3. How We Use Your Data

To provide and operate the platform
To process your messages through AI (OpenAI) to generate responses
To send transactional emails (invitations, password resets)
To respond to free trial applications
To monitor for abuse and ensure platform security

4. AI Processing — OpenAI

Messages you send in the chat are processed by OpenAI's API to generate AI responses. Before any content is sent to OpenAI, our system automatically removes personally identifiable information (PII scrubbing). OpenAI processes data under their own privacy policy.

By using the AI chat feature, you acknowledge that message content (after PII removal) is transmitted to OpenAI for processing.

5. Public Content

Debate threads marked as public are visible to anyone on the internet without an account. Do not include sensitive, confidential, or patient-identifiable information in public debates.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Debate and chat content is retained for the duration of your organization's subscription. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union or Romania, you have the following rights:

Right to access your personal data
Right to rectification of inaccurate data
Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
Right to restrict processing
Right to data portability
Right to object to processing

8. Data Transfers

We use OpenAI (United States) for AI processing. This constitutes a transfer of data outside the European Economic Area. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses as the legal mechanism for this transfer.

9. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication (session tokens, JWT). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
